Clutchless start

So ya the other day we made it so my friends STI no longer had to use the clutch when starting. Its a lot easier on the car by doing this and also its way cool. On his car it was as simple as removing a paper clip. Does anyone have expiriance doing this to our cars. Thanks.

I know it can be done, but I wouldn't do it.

Just unplug the switch under the clutch pedal.

yeah i believe it will start. i think that you can do this with an evo if you disconnect a sensor by the clutch pedal. i know you can do it in 1g's and 2g's

I had a remote start put in and I had to do the same. Yes the car will start if you leave it in gear, but it will shoot like a rocket, very dangerous.

yes you can do this by unplugging the 2 wire by the clutch, but it will disarm your turbo timer...

if your car is in gear, like steveosevo says it will shoot like a rocket...

mine is like this right now....i was messing with my clutch pedal and removed it..liked it so much i keeped it like that..probably going to get a remote start on it...i never start mine with it in gear...i have to reach under near the clutch and push the button in while turning the key while car is in neutral...fires up without my clutch

Not a good idea, you never know when you might forget if you left it in gear and drive it into a wall or curb

In your logic how is it easier on the car? I mean now the starter has to turn the input shaft in trans as well.

A couple of years ago, a pick up truck shot out of the top floor of a multi-storey car park near our office and fell 5 floors. The driver left it in gear and went to start the thing.

Turned out it wasn't supposed to park there anyway, there wasn't actually a wall there, just wire fencing and about 1.5foot of cement at the base to protect the air con machinery and the truck belonged to the air-con repairman who thought he'd park up nice and close to where he was going to work.

I'm not saying you're as dumb/unlucky as that, but if you do disconnect it, be careful...
