Evo turbos are and always have been Big 16G's - at least from the Evo III on. The "Big" part was something added by american distributors later, since I don't think MHI calls it that. The turbos are not physically bigger then the small or regular 16G's, just the compressor wheels inside. Still, the IX comp housing is bigger then all the ones prior.

Evo III Big compressor wheel flows 550 cfm. The regular 16G compressor wheel flows 505 cfm that much I know.
The Evo III/Big 16G is 1.89" at the inducer and 2.68" at the exducer. Thats not much smaller then the 18G.

We all know the IX has a larger compressor side. But we do NOT know how much it flows. We know its NO 20G. But how does it fair against an 18G?

But, I think what you are saying is misleading, or maybe its clear to everyone else. When someone says "compressor side" I take it they are talking about the wheel, not the cover/diffuser. From what I understand, the compressor wheel in the IX turbo is the same as the VIII turbo.
