My evo makes the same noise. It's coming right underneath the glove compartment. I had a 03 and did the same thing.
BTW, it's only noticeable when the outside temp is kind of cold.

I just learned to get used to it because the evo is prone to making some noises.

If I had a nickle everytime I heard a rattle in my Evo I can prolly afford to buy a TBE by now.

knock arond the area and see if you can find whats rattling, the you can put some felt or somthing to quiet it. Good Luck

I have the same rattling noise in the dash as well. I hear it's common. My solution to it all: turn up the radio

I have the same thing, it's a very fast paced almost clicking noise coming from what seemed to be the passenger side dash. I later found that it seems to be coming from the front end outside because when I open and shut my passenger door it vibrates the car enough that it happens. Still haven't been able to narrow it down.....
