wideband 02 a must???

Hey guys i just have a question with my setup without bigger turbo just stocker and basic bolt ons besides cams and gears is a wideband neccasary? I keep reading where everyone says do wideband but im kinda confused?? Specially when i get tuned shouldnt it be a safe air fuel anyway with their flashes?

I dont think it would be 100% neccessary. I think it would be a very good "insurance" investment for tuning.. However, where you're at, i highly doubt it is 100% neccessary.

By the time the AFR have gone beyond the safezone, it will be too late. would rather invest in an EGT.

Mail in flashes should be fine. They're tuned conservatively so I don't think you should worry.

Wideband = insurance and it also gives you a way to make sure that the mail-in flash is actually delivering as promised. Unless your AFRs jump WAY lean, then, yes, the wideband is a very effective tool to keep an eye on your car - e.g. let's say you do a couple of WOT pulls and you see that the AFR is hovering around 11.5. It's probably time to start thinking about the longevity of your car, since that is approaching the limit of what you can run safely/long term. If you're going to get a wideband, make sure that you can log the data. Just glancing at it won't really do much good.

I guess you dont tune very often or know how to use a wideband.

Timing is the most important. Aslo EGT aswell. You can get a flat AFR but that doesn't mean the your timing will peak or advance @ the right amount. Tuning with just the AFR is totally stupid.

I wonder what is cheaper. A rebuilt motor or a wide band? I run a wideband in ALL of my modified cars. It is cheap insurance. It is better to know than to be cheap and blow a motor. Buy it with a EGT gauge. You can have enough gauges.
