I'm 20 and I also own a 2005 Suzuki Gsx-r750 with a 06 Ix, most people find it surprising for me to own two new rides, then they automatically assume that I'm a spoiled kid and that my parents bought my rides for me, when I tell them that I have been working full time for the last 3 years saving up for everything, they get really surprised.

I'm 23, quiet, computer nerd, death metal freak and also a bench jeweler. People have said my "car" fits me very well even though they probably don't know what it is. I've always liked things that are out of the ordinary so yeah the evo fits me.

One thing I did notice though is that people of all ages have gained more respect for me when they see me in my evo. Those who know what an evo is.

Most members of the general public don't know what an EVO is. I have been a sports car enthusiast all my life, and I didn't know what an EVO was until I saw one at a track day event 2 years ago, about six months after I started tracking with my then 350Z.

I'm 51 and I own 2 EVOs (one is a track day car). People who know me aren't surprised. People who are surprised don't always say so, so I don't know who is surprised, really. I went from an '04 Audi S4 to the IX MR as my daily driver. That probably surprised a few peeps.

I got some flak from my domestic friends untill they were forced to look at my tail lights from the hole and around the turns....... They still talk smack about the coffie can exhaust though. Then I tell them they wouldn't have to hear or see it if the could break out of the 13's lol

I know I responded earlier but I couldnt help but to add this:

Are people surprised that I own an EVO? well, people who are just meeting me for the first time will be surprised, especially if they go for a ride with me. They'll notice that its not smooth and quiet like a luxury, or any ordinary 4 door, but instead it feels like a rocket with 4 wheels attached to it that was meant to run hard at the track and on the streets.

Another thing I would like to add is the amount of Oooooo's and ahhhh's I get from people in light traffic, from admirers to haters, from ricers, to other car buffs, or to people who are just plain clueless about what the car is about.......the EVO sure does turn heads especially if you are tastefully modded, and if your paint looks freshly waxed ...

People at work are really surprised that I am driving a YELLOW Evo (the other finance guys always seem to drive black BMWs). I always park at a certain section of the parking lot...and it's funny 'cause all of the other sports cars (Evo MR, GTO's, 350Z's) and wanna be sports cars (Cobalts, etc.) started parking next to me.

haha hell yeah, get that all the time. although im 2 years older. but can't blame most people for thinking that, around where i'm from there is a crapload of spoiled kids with rich parents. You go to high school parking lots and you see audi s4s, g35s, stis, m3's, and they all were gifts from mommy and daddy for waking up in the morning and going to school.

it's sorta funny when i pull up to concerts or the local "hip" areas of town in it since most of those kids think a Volvo 240 is the ideal car

Heh that tends to be everyones first comment to me too, "so your 18...and your driving an Evo?" Then their next question is do you race it...and I say no because if it breaks im out a job...got to get to work somehow right?

To answer the question, the evo seems to fit me, so most people I know are not supprised. Its not a two door sports car and it doesnt look all "SUPER FAST" so I dont have to drive it like im going to race it. However if its provoked then it can fly like a bat out of hell.

I get it quite often... I'm 33, active duty Soldier, and higher ranking than most in my field.. They feel I should be driving my 3 kids in a minivan.. I think its funny they judge me for what I drive, and not for what I love... My EVO is my 4th kid!!
