How are you long distance daily drivers dealing with gas prices?

i guess there are few ways of saving gas. one way is switch gears every 3k and try not to let the turbo spool. another way could be a lil pricey, some of the evo drivers i know bought a aem ems or other types of engine management system and set the evo to take 87 octane.

yeah, i guess you could get 26mpg at 60mph. i have to drive interstate though, which means 80mph. ive done it for a full tank and best i got was 22mph, no boost, just a few stop and gos and interstate.

I'm in outbound sales. I have no choice but to drive all day long. It's part of the job. This hike in gas prices is a kick in the fugging *** to my bottom line. My employer is slow to react. In fact our monthly car credit has been the same since 2001 when gas was a $1.55/gallon.

Luckily, my company pays for my gas....and, actually, the car and insurance as well....

Unfortunately, the POS Honda Odyssey sucks gas like a pig, so the family bottom line is still effected.

just to let you all know, i get about 12 to 13 MPG in my evo now with all my mods and i drive 35 miles to work and 35 back home. I pay about $3.68 a gallon and i know this is gonna **** people off but... i could care less. i could get 2 MPG and gas could be $30.00 a gallon and i would fill that Evo up every 28 miles... just cuz i love my car. honestly i cruise for more miles then i drive to work and back. i bought my car brand new 8 months ago with 7 miles on it, as of yesterday i have little over 16,000. thats only 2000 a month, not to bad. but to answer the main question... i am dealing with the price of gas just fine. if you can afford an Evo you should be able to afford the gas too. you pay $30,000 or more for a car and cant afford the gas??? that is like having a baby and not being able to afford food.... that is just stupid to me.

from what I have read my driving seem to be the most. I drive a 1000 miles a week. I average 200 miles a day, give or take a few miles. I had to buy a beater just so I don't put so miles in my evo. stupid me, I am also modding my beater which is a 95 hatch with a k20a type r motor.

I just returned from the Bahamas to discover gas prices went up twenty cents (we're now the highest in Florida) and it now takes over $40 to fill the tank. The Bahamians are paying $5 a gallon though. I'm reimbursed .30 cents a mile through work (sucks) and I've managed to put 18K on my car since the end of September 05. It's really had an effect on my personal budget and the way I drive. I'm at the point where I'm making it a game to get 300 miles out of a tank, LOL. Boost is only for special occasions or when absolutely necessary. Let's hope the Evo X has a flex fuel option.

I just got 400 miles on 17 gallons of 93(added 3 gallons at half a tank). I traded in an 02 325i which got about 420 on a standard 17 gallon tank. I figure 400 miles on 17 gallons is pretty damn good. But I did do what a lot of you guys stated by shifting at 3000RPMs and staying out of boost for the most part.
