Advan Question.

When should I get my tires rotated? I have an Evo 9 with about 5,800 miles.

I think its more how u drive ur car then miles. If ur not a heavy driver I would wait till the inside tread looks pretty bare.

Till then, your fine.

I would rotate them every oil change. They're prone to wear on the insides on the rear tires, so moving them will get more life out of them.

I got well over 20k miles on my advans, where most people don't even come close to that.

Just food for thought.

yeah, about every oil change swap front to rear. And maybe every other oil change have a tire place (like Discount Tire, Big O Tires, Peb Boys, whatever) rotate left and right since the tires are directional, they should do an "X" swap FR goes to RL and FL goes to RR. You can get away with L/R swaps because the A046 tread is symmetrical. The F/R rotation you can simply do with a jack.

|| first rotation, you can do this easily.
X second rotation, tire shop can do this (they have to mount and balance).

just go back and forth with these two patterns and you'll get more life out of them than you would by "running them until the inside edge is bare."

So you guys getting good life out of the tires are you just doing front to back on the same side that is what I planned to do every oil change. I was going to do it myself the car will be lucky if it sees 6k in a year as it is not daily driven just weekends and sometimes at nite after work.

getting them balanced is also helps lengthen the life, so I wouldn't do it myself unless you gotta "balancing" machine

+1!

Do side to side rotation once all the tread is almost worn off the insides.

This is what i did and i'm on par for 30,000 miles on stock advans .

Have you priced the costs of unmounting , then mounting the tires its not woth if it you ask me . Just swap front to rear every 3,000 miles or so u should be cool and get about 15- 20 k on Advans depending on your driving

well i say that because often (from aggressive camber for a frequently tracked/auto-x'd car) the inside edges will wear from excessive street use. Typically unmounting/mounting/balancing is like $40-60. Do this once every 6-12 months or so. The price isn't that bad if you gain an extra 6000 miles/6-8months out of the tires.
