evo ix?

i just got my evoix rs. i was checking my oil today and i noticed that the diverter valve looks the same as the jdm mr valve that i paid over $100 for my evo viii. is it the same or is it different? this one is not plastic like the viii valve. sorry if i missed this but i haven't kept up with the boards like i should have. and it is to fine of a point to search for. thanks for any help.

I think they're either the same or very similar... the IX DV is supposed to be good for 25psi or so. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, I bought the JDM MR one for my Evo 8 as well. I wouldn't have done this if I would have known I was getting a 9 so quickly.

No, it doesn't.

Wroble, this is one of the most commonly-known and commonly-discussed features on the IX. It is not too fine of a subject to search for...we talk about it all the time in many, many threads. It's the same as the JDM MR DV as far as anyone can tell.

Ok, I should qualify that. MINE leaks when I pressure test it at 22psi.

Then it's defective. Also, 22psi sure isn't bad compared to 13psi on the plastic one...

Sure it's defective... I would argue with you but I've been here long enough to know you would never stfu. So yeah, it's defective, and anyone else's that's leaking is also defective.

Not sure what you mean. They have been proven through pressure tests to hold 24-25psi on many, many occasions. I personally have pressure tested 3 stock IXs, all of which held to 25psi. Your comment was that your BOV "still leaks." Do you know of any BOVs that never leak? The only one I know of is the HKS SSQV due to its pull-type mechanism.

So, yes, if yours leaks before 22psi, then something is wrong (e.g. defective). I still don't see how you say it's leaking if it doesn't do it until 22psi. That's 2psi over stock, which is far, FAR better than the VIII plastic BOV that would leak as early as 13psi. What is there to argue about anyway?

which is 6 psi under stock....sounds a little exagerated.

The boost that we run stock has nothing to do with when the stock BOV begins to leak. They are unrelated measurements. Look around, and you'll see I'm not the only one who has personally pressure tested the stock BOV and had it begin to open at 13psi...

so let me get this right, when the stock evo8 boost to 19psi and tapers to 16 psi it never made it cause it leaked at 13psi on most if not all evo8s?
