This Day Sucked
So I'm driving down I-95, about 1/4 mile from my exit, when the traffic comes to a stop in my exit lane. Not unusual for rush hour. The 3 inside lanes are still moving at full speed. Just as I'm sitting there, worrying that some idiot won't see the stopped traffic, I see a beat up, blue spray painted, late 70's Malibu, coming up behind me at high speed. Looked like he was going 70 - 80 mph. He swerves into the lane, almost hitting a car in the lane beside him. I'm thinking to myself " I don't think he's going to slow down". A few seconds later, there's a horrible sound of crunching, twisted metal, as he hit's me hard enough to push me under the Mitsu Gallant in front of me. Hit the left rear of the bumper hard enough to buckle the quarter panel over the edge of the rear door. The front held up suprisingly well. Pushed back the radiator and intercooler, destroyed the hood, but didn't damage my turbo or manifold. It's an RNR GT30 kit. It's the first accident I've ever been involved in over 25 yrs of driving. I had an AEM EMS, 272 intake cam, lifters, and a Tial bov in the trunk. I was planning to have the EMS installed and tuned by Sean Ivey this month. I actually have a Cwest front end at the body shop waiting to be painted. Guess I won't be installing it. Atleast it could result in a new IX.

Sorry to hear about that! Last year my wife was rear ended in her wrx by a dodge ram duallie going 60mph when she was at a dead stop. She had to go to physical therapy for her knee that went into the dash. At least we got the STI out of it. Glad to hear your ok. Hopefully you get a IX out of it!

oh man...so sorry to hear this...
i always, always, always leave at least a car's distance in front of me when i'm stopped. this way if i see some dumbass **** coming up real fast i have a bit of a cushion in front, or enough space to change lanes (hopeless in heavy traffic of course)
hope u can get a 9 and get back into the Evo scene

I do the same and in addition to that, here in NYC, you can be driving on the freeway and all of a sudden traffic can come to a halt in no time with no warning at all, so I usually slow down, leaving myself enough room in front of me to escape if i need too, and I also always throw on my flashers....and usually it wakes up the inattentive drivers behind me....
