Evo RS in America
I heard a rumor that depending on evolution sales here in America, Mitsubishi may be bringing an RS version of the evo stateside, with 6 gears. Can anyone back me on this, or is it just some BS rumor?

I dont know if thats true but that would be great, i wonder how much will detune it, the jap evo dynos @ 315 , and they say its 276. the american evo 8 say 271 ,and dynos lower. but maybe an rs version, would be better, well unless mitsubishi spills some details i guess will just have to wait and see.

Not sure about the RS version but will be releasing a Rilliart version of the lancer which will share a lot of the looks of the Evo but will have a 180 hp engine. From what I have seen though it is not a 6 speed but I could be wrong.

Don't know about the RS version, but I have heard the rumors about the 6-speed.
BTW - They are limited by law, in Japan, to 276 hp. Although it has become one of those wink, wink, nudge, nudge type of things and all the FIA derivative cars dyno at over 300 hp. We were lucky to get the 271 hp version. Originally, I had heard 251 hp, because they couldn't get the rally motor to pass US emission testing at the full (Japanese) rating. Just have to wait and see. Will also depend on the performance (actual and sales) of the WRX-Sti and whether Mitsu wants to get into a pissing contest. With their conservative bent in the past, I would have to say that's doubtful, but with a German at the helm......who knows?

Yes I stand corrected, a typo on my part. 160 is the accurate figure. I was in a hurry to get off to work. But, compared to a stock Lancer, the car looks more like an EVO. Pontiac? Well, I have to agree there also. Much like a Sunfire in the front. Ugly? well that could be because it is slated to become the 05 Dodge Neon.

Just to add to the rumors, I heard that the new Ralliart Lancer headlight design will be a design characteristic on all Mitsus. If this proves to be true then it would give some validity to those pics of the Evo IX.
