Thumbs down cracked DCsports header already (less than 2 months)

I learned a lot today. I worked on my car with Ray(rraulston) and during the process of removing my o2 housing in exchange of a Works 3" housing we discovered that my brand new 2 moth old DCsport header were cracked.

About a month ago I was going to open a topic due to a clicking/ticking nosie I was getting. I showed my car to all my Army of Tucson Evo owners friends, no one could figure it out what it was. Someone mentioned a exhaust leak but it was not visible at all.

During my tunning with Al 2 weeks ago the noise was present. We found out that the clickling noise was not a valve nosie but a 2.5" crack on the center join of the DCsport header.

I am not going to hide anything, I am very disapointed. I was very enthusiatic about this header because they were tested on a project yellow Evo on the prestigius turbo magazine. This header put down 4lb/tq and 11whp on their dyno so I thought it was a good deal.

I no longer want this header in my car, in fact, I no longer want any header on my car period. I am just giving you heads up so that you are aware this things can crack, even it you buy a good brand(well, now not so good).

I am running stock header now, the noise is gone.

Please allow me a few minutes to post some pics, I need to minimize the pic size.

Thanks for your time!

Carlos

i have a dc header w/no problems (yet) after 8 months. all tube headers are at risk of cracking. if you indeed had your dc header for only 2 months, call aem/dc and give them a chance... they may replace it.

SOON2BEVO,

I dragged you from my other post because I also read your topic a while back when you had your DCsports installed. Despite not being in your signature I personally know that you have them.

These headers have less than 1500 miles on it. I was whining when I first saw the header because they came with a lot of dirt inside, it took me a while to remove the rust look alike material all over the inner walls of the header, that was the first sign of quality deficiency.

Secondly, I never liked the way the welding was done on the inside, there were huge gaps all over the join points. I never gave much importance but now I realize that they cracked right on the spot that I pointed.

As I said before, I no longer want any kind of header on my car, either I will leave it stock or I will send my stockers to Buschur for porting and polishing.

pictures very very soon. wait a couple of minutes guys.

This has already been addressed. DC Sports anounced that anyone who received the "old" version of there turbo manifold might experience this issue with a crack. If you have a vendor you do a lot of business with or just go back to the vendor you bought it from, they can send your cracked manifold back to DC Sports and they will send you the newly designed manifold that is supposed to not crack.

Don't give up on a good product because of this issue, it was addressed and the good peoples at DC Sports will replace it for you.

That is a bad crack. is that typical with "tube" type headers? or just with this brand? Can you repair that? or will they warranty it?
