I am about to send the car down to Buschur and have a stroker motor, AEM, and the 3065 put on along with some variation of the Robi Spec suspension. Problem is my wife REALLY HATES THE EVO. She wants me to sell the Evo and order the GT3.
Problem is I really love the Evo, its fast as hell and nobody notices my white RS, which is nice. The GT3 would make a great weekend track car and with the PCCB brakes be pretty reliable to run on the weekends. I know the evo can be made to run faster then the GT3 but I have driven a few Porsche's (993tt, GT3, 996tt) and they are very fun cars to track.
One more twist is the Twin Turbo is also an option over the GT3, the wife has said...whatever you want as long as you get rid of the Evo!
Either car is a sunny day/weekend car.

why not get a used low mileage Porsche turbo?
I think it would be a similar price, plus you can mod the turbo to kick Evo *** if you want.
Maybe it's just me, but I like the fact the Porsche 911 Turbo has AWD and you can modify it.. but it is heavier than a GT3. .. which you can't mod and it's rwd only.
That's what I would do If I had the money.

No it is not.
The big thing about the Evo is it really is a great car that can be driven anywhere and nobody notices. I own my own business and there is no way I can show up at a Union shop with a GT3, with the Evo nobody even notices it.

I don't really see how this is much of a decision. You're talking Mitsubishi vs. Porsche. Not to mention it's one of the most capable Porsche's ever made, which is saying a LOT.
If it was the only car you could own, I would go with the Evo, but you're talking about track/ weekend-only, so I would definitely go with the GT3.

I love beating the #hit out of the Evo, I don't think I would feel that way about the GT3. That alone takes away from how much fun I would have with the GT3.

Don't get the ceramic brakes if you plan to track it. there are many threads on rennlist about this. basically the concensus is PCCBs for the track: no performance benefit, the rotors last about twice as long as steel rotors BUT the replacement cost for a pair ceramic front rotors $10,000. no, that is not a typo. that was the 1st gen PCCB system, they supposedly have improved them on the 997s.

I have heard the same thing and will be doing more research on the rotors. Many of the problems with them has been in stop and go city traffic.

I am trying to do the same thing except with that new Shelby mustang. I really want to do a turbo kit but again I would love to have another mustang especially a 500 hp supercharged one stock. I don't know, its tough. The last few days it has been raining hard here and I never have to think twice about driving the evo in that kind of weather. That is one of the reasons I love the car so much. I will figure it out much like you will. Go with what you think you like.
