Ultimately, no. Once both are built and the only thing left Mitsubishi is the bare head, bare block and crank, they have the same potential.

Evos have always gotten better injectors, better turbos, slightly better cams from the factory.

evo transmissions were always a bit better as well, better gearing and more reinforcement. The shorter gearing makes a big difference in acceleration both straight line and out of corners, part of the reason why an evo feels faster than a comparably built dsm

I couldn't even count the number of gsx transfer cases ive heard about blowing out after 300awhp

Then we got the magnesium valve cover vs the always leaking dsm one, no crankwalk issues so far, but I think the gen 1 has bigger intake ports

Mmmmm, there are plenty of DSMs over 300whp, that's cake for 1 or 2G. 2G cars are similar to EVO III's not anything majorly different except maybe some of the ratios, but not in strength. 90-91's do have the lesser spline drivetrain, though.

Again, 2G engines are equal to Evo III engines, so they will walk just as much. CW is waaaaaaaay overblown and overplayed.

wow so there really isnt taht much difference..guess the transmission change is a good thing, are there any negative things that have risen because of the tranverse layout?

I am not sure what you are asking since both engines are tranverse. However they flipped it for better weight distribution. Nothing neagtive has become of that. Except you can't put an EVO VI-IX turbo on a GVR4,DSM or EVO I-III without some fabrication.

well ok i guess then i get things mixed up. What exactly does it mean to be transversed? and the reason why the engine was flipped was for better weight distrubution?

transverse means it sits sideways in the engine bay. you mean reversed

^Right^ By flipped I meant 180 degrees. More of the engine sits behind the front axle on the Evo IV-IX's then it did on prior versions.

It is a DSM that holds the highest E.T. and trap speed record. PERIOD.
