Hotwiring the IX??????

Im not asking how to hot wire a car although i want to learn how to...

My question is,

Is it possible to Hotwire the Evo[IX to be specific] so they can steal it?

Im not sure if Newer cars today cant be hotwire. or the manufacturer came up a solution/protection for this. It bothers me sometimes just for thinking that i might loose my IX.

What do you think???

as far as I know the engine is disabled unless the key that has the built in microship that emits a radio frequency to the ECU is inserted into the ignition.

My bad it can still be stolen. There are other ways to bypass the ECU without using the key. The chances if happening are slim because it does take some time. Just be careful where you take your car to make keys.

Any car can be stolen. I have friends with Honda hatchbacks that take their ECUs out when they leave their cars. Even that isn't going to stop a determined thief.

I am very careful where i take my car, here in bay area the evo is not a big deal, its not a cadillac, however just for the fact that there are few Evo owners makes me worry sometimes.

Lo-jack can help right? well at least you know you'll get it back.

Lo Jack is garbage. First, I know for a fact that Virginia and MAYBE Florida police do not waste time looking for LoJack. It says it on the brochure. I saw this in a Virginia car dealer! so that just goes to show that the dealer was wanting money.

However, back to LoJack being garbage, my former supervisor had a Stage 3 Steeda Mustang here in Miami. Lived in a good neighborhood and everything. His car was gone. By the time he woke up, the signal couldn't be found. The signal can't get out of a steel shed type warehouse...Or a shipping container for that matter.

Exploiting the VIN is a favorite too. Shady guy works at a dealer, sees your car...Looks on the dash to get your VIN...Bam...All the info there to get a key cut for his buddy for a nominal fee.

Thieves are going to get it. The only sort of theft deterrent I have are for when my kids are in the car...a cute little Glock 27 in my waistband (LEGALLY). Other than that, they can have my car. It isn't worth it.

I leave an attack tortoise on my hood at night to protect the car.
