just installed boost guage. 17psi?
My boost gauge is showing 17 psi at the most. There really isnt any tapering either. is the correct? i drive a IX if that makes any difference at all. Ive heard that every car is different.. or my boost guage is off.

It probably is about right. They don't all come with full boost from the factory, and if you really are only seeing 17psi peak, I wouldn't expect it to taper at all.
I've seen a stock IX only register 1.1 bar on the dyno in stock form, then another stock IX was showing 1.4 bar on the same dyno same day. They made about 30whp difference in power, but that is easily remedied with the right mods.
There's also the possibility of a loose hose causing a boost leak somewhere or the gauge is off, but I'm more inclined to think it's just low boost from the factory.

mine did the same thing once I hooked up the boost gauge. 17psi dead on, no taper. installed a forge mbc and now I have 21-22 at full throttle in most gears, but once in a while it creeps up to 24 for a sec when in 4th or 5th at 4-5k and the gas is floored.
get a mbc and it will take care of all that.
then get a dynoflash

interestingly enough, my old 8 idled at around 17hg of vacuum when stock, but idled at 14 when I put in the hks 272's...The 9 idles at more like 15-14 all the time. wonder if that's the mivec intake cam?

all depends on the dealer. our mitsu dealer here will allow exhausts, intakes and boost controllers, but draw the line as soon as the motor is cracked into or standalone ems's are installed.
kinda nice to walk into the service shop and see a display of subaru and evo/eclipse exhausts hanging for sale(they are the suby dealer as well).

I see that now with my forge mbc installed, but it is the same response that I think you will see out of most stock turbo'ed evos.
prior to the mbc, I held 17psi from 3k all the way to redline steady...

Fales advertising! Every brochure I've seen, has in writing 20psi. I remember back in 02, the Mustang Cobra advertised a certain bhp and fell short. They had to change the exhaust I believe, to hit the advertised mark. Not saying Mitsubishi would ever do anything about it, but if enough people showed 17psi at the dealer, maybe they would have to Flash the ECU to hit 20psi.
Wishful thinking I know...

Just because of this post I went out and bought a gauge today and installed it.
When I went and drove it after the install the gauge reads 17 psi from 3500 rpm and drops 16 at 7k. This was in 1 through 3, I didn't have enough road for 4 and 5.
I was thinking of adjusting the wastgate accuator rod, for the time being, anyone else tried this
Sorry but I have to edit this, I tapped the wrong location for the gauge.
It is accually 18, and 15 at redline..... sorry about that.
