But it doesn't - it causes the car to run richer in open loop.

It's easy to clean the soot off - no biggie. It's definitely not worthy getting an exhaust that sticks out way past the bumper and looks dumb.

interesting. what would it require to keep the computer from running rich in open loop with the different fuel pump?

Tune? AFPR?

I was getting carbon deposits with my Magnaflow Ti. I have the Fubijitsu RM01A now and a SS bumper shield and no more carbon

Beauty is relative, but cleaning the soot over and over again becomes tiring. What is beautiful for one person is dumb for another person. Some people think the EVO is fugly and the old STI is the sex. Others disagree.

dirty bumper

I'm guessing that this is caused by a shorter after market exhaust and the really cool flames that any Evo will throw when it does not have a catalytic converter in the exhaust. Some of my friends were following me at an HPDE and said it was pretty entertaining watching the tail pipe.

Where'd you get the SS heat shield? Never seen one of those before...

I've never had a problem with my bumper getting soot on it. Though my exhaust did turn the inside of the exhaust cutout black.

I usually end up hitting my trunk and rear bumper with a polish before I wax the car, about once every 3 weeks. I use the Sonus polish, it works like a charm when I use it after washing the car.
