i've used my AC only couple off time as I prefer open windows and cool breezes and had no complaints about the cold. I actually plan to take a little road trip tour of the east coast in the evo in a couple weeks which will consist of 5 days of heavy driving. Won't be the most comfortable but so used to making multiple drives from philly to syracuse every now and then so I'm used to long drives in it.

Yeah, generally I was saying that the Evo wasn't all that bad for long drives, but as i've been on the forums for quite some time (new name) i have seen plenty of posts about people asking about how long drives were, or contemplating trips, etc.
I just thought I would give my experience to let everyone else know

I don't think any RS's were built/sold with no A/C.
I've noticed that the AC in the Evo isn't as strong as in other Mitsus, most of my coustomers getting into other Mitsu vehicles have always complimented how cold they were, and we are A/C connoisseurs down here.
DSM's are notorious for losing power when the A/C is on, you have to turn it off before you do any highspeed driving or you will suck. I even have an ECU chip that will disengage the compressor it for me if I forget. I wonder if Mitsu made some sort of provision that cycles it to keep the stress off the engine.

I just got back yesterday from LA. My IX MR has seen Cali twice and already has 8000 miles on it in 2.5 months. My AC works just fine. And I think my car is way more tolerable then driving in a econo-car 8 hours. My seats actually have padding as opposed to those cheap *** things they call seats.
