going HID
Whats the deal, I've heard 2 different things about going HID
1st on here I heard I need to get a HID ready headlight housing.
Here in town I hear I don't need and thing except a converion HID kit.
Whats the deal?
and sorry for the repost, I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere.

Been looking into this for a while...Basically, here is how it works...If you were to get a conversion kit for a Corolla, it would look like shiz because they don't have projectors...The non-HID evo guys have projectors, but they are intended for halogen lights...As we all know, halogen light is lammmeeeeee....So, you need a conversion kit, and you have a few options...Essentially, you only have one real option...Go with what the manufacturor use: Hella/Phillips...Personally, if you need a complete kit, I am looking into the group buy forum for Kaixen, they look like a pretty complete kit off of Phillips-based side-project...This particular kit even includes the fuses you need to replace...I think that is the best price you will find around, stay away from McCulloch, F1, and a few others I have heard are not so hot...Next thing, K-rating...4300K is what is offered from factory, try to get as close to this as you can...The guys who have 12000K, 10000K, and 8000K are losing visibility...The lower the K, the better the light output...If you cannot find a 4300K kit, I would NOT go above 6000K....But to address your issue, NO you do not need the HID projector headlights...A conversion kit will do the same thing, and for a lot less money, you will have very similar results...
So, that's the good news...Now for a bit of the bad...I am not very technicnological so bear with me...The extra (wattage/amperage) energy running through your main wiring harness, some say, is enough to eventually fry it... I have heard others say "make sure to have a spare wiring harness" for this very reason...I have also heard many respond back saying "I have had a conversion kit on for x0,000 miles, no problems here"...Truly, what you are asking is a little more complex...Light output is the easiest part, fitting these conversion kits is truly plug-and-play...The hardest part is taking off your bumper, but if you are not confident, take it to a local audio shop that has installed a few in their time...So in conclusion: go low-Kelvin, you don't need HID projectors, only go with Phillips/Hella, if you are uneasy about installing go to a shop, and take precaution with this wiring harness issue (which may not be an issue at all, it may be a myth, many have dismissed)...
Others who have installed these kits shoot back at how many miles you have had them on your car..

I've found someone with stock 03 housing with HID & bulb and fog.
They want around 550 for them.
1. What does this go for? 550 a fair price? I took a good look at them they'er kind
srached but they'er blacked out.
2. How much is it going to be for the wiring harness for Both HID and fog?
3. How much should I be able to get for my 05 15k new like stock RS headlights?

i ordered a McCulloch kit from here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...4&page=1&pp=15
it should arrive soon....i'm just goin to install it on my stock IX gsr's housing, see how it works out. i havn't heard/read anything bad about the McCulloch kits yet after about 1 month of researching all the aftermarket HID's....
if the light output is ridiculous, i.e. cutoff is about 300000 feet, and light output is all jacked, then i'll get a HID housing...but if not, i'll just stick with my $260 kit i got the 5300k kit for best output out of what's offered in that thread also....

I got lucky. Picked up a pair of '04 OEM HID Housings, Bulbs, Ballasts (Hella) and wiring for 550$ shipped.
$550 for housings + bulbs isnt a bad deal at all.
The install for my setup was pretty straight forward. Bumper removal took longer than anything else.
