Test pipe or High flow cat?

I have a RMR downpipe and exhaust. But the downpipe uses the stock cat. I would much rather get a test pipe but this is my daily driver and I am worried about not passing emissions. Are the power gains that much better in a test pipe than a High flow cat. Do they even check for the cat anymore?

yes if you have emissions testing they do look for a cat atleast for me they do in PA, not sure on MD laws......but you can always swap back and forth, its only once a year

test pipe will yield a couple extra ponies over a highflow, imo not worth the hassle of swaping back and forth or defying emissions, but thats just my $.02

Well, I will tell you from absolute first hand experience. I have a Greddy Evo catback, Turbo XS down pipe and had a UR hf cat on . The gain's were good with the HFC, but I had the UR test pipe put on this weekend. What a huge difference, the power is really felt. The car actually seems to run a hell of a lot better. No CEL's or check engine lights either.

I've never had this problem. The cars behind you, however, will get nice whiffs when you give it the go-pedal.

I had the UR HFC and i also have a test pipe. Big difference with test pipe and also louder exhaust. When it comes time for emision tests then i will swap back to the HFC.

I had a magnaflow high flow cat and put down 320 to the wheels. A week later I swapped out the hfc for the buschur cat delete pipe and ran 332. I think 12 horse to the wheels is worth the hassle of swapping out the part if needed for emissions testing.

Just my two cents.
