"i've found that the vast majority of police have an inferiority complex. that is why they became police in the first place. to exercise their will on the public at large under the protection of a badge and a gun."

It's not a "Police issue" per say, it's a personality issue & a flaw in the hiring standards. I know, I was an MP, Weapons Instructor and an SRT team member. We had some real idiots who were on a power trip and some great guys. we also trained w/ civilian law enforcement, they had the same problems too. If you allow an egotistical jerk into a postition of authority, you will have problems galor, the only difference is that police carry a sidearm, wear a badge and drive around, ie. lots of power. I'm sure you've dealt with those idiots at the DMV or in some city or county office who are on a power trip. It was'nt the postion or office that created the problem, it was the individual. And the opposite is true, you've been served by a clerk with a great attitude, same way with police, you deal with complete idiots and some really decent guys, that's just the way it is.
Alot has to do with how you come across and your attitude. I've been let off more times than I've been written, yes there is the MP factor, but a good attitude goes a long way.
Seems like the Leftcost and the NE coast have some real Klingons for police, but then again they've become more like police states than free states.

I got stopped by one cop in a patrol car and then his buddy pulled up for back up on a motorcycle and they asked me if I changed out the tail lights on this car. I say no I bought it like this. He said bought it "new" I said yes off the show room floor and then wrote me a ticket for tint even though it is legal. Oh and this was in the Prius. My wife keeps on thinking I will get in trouble in the EVO but they hassle be in my little hybrid.

oh i completely agree with you. i've met alot of great guys in the law enforcement field.

you're absolutely right, it is the individual. unfortunately those types of jobs do attract a higher ratio of those flawed personalities.

thankfully i've never had any serious issues with police. i use the same method that i use with all people i encounter that are working at their job, and that is the simple rule that if you treat them with respect most of the time they will reciprocate.

plus, writing out tickets and citations is more paperwork for them, so if you give them a way to avoid it, most of them are happy to oblige.

it really is sad, like you said, the extent of a police state that is being constructed as of late. i live in a suburb with nearly a 0 crime rate. the most common thing the cops have to deal with here is domestics and underage drinking. unfortunately there is alot of tax money that flows into a grossly inflated police budget, and it pains me to see the sheer amount of officers and "toys" they get for no real reason. i would much rather see some of my tax dollars redistributed to poorer areas of my city where the police departments are understaffed, and underfunded, and could greatly benefit from the money i feel my local PD is wasting. however, that is another thread entirely.

I have met i think ONE nice cop. The rest are power trip A-wholes. I got pulled over for window tint and the guy was a total DICK.

"is this car modded"

- no

"no air intake, exhaust, etc"

- Did I say no, or did I say yes

"have you modified anything on this car"

- NO.

The reason why you are gonna seem to run into more a-hole cops than cool ones, is because only the a-holes are gonna pull you over for no good reason in the first place.

I'm in law enforcement myself, although I am not a patrol officer. There are plenty of good officers out there doing there job every day. Unfortunately, the not so good officers leave a much more lasting impression.

my wife works for the police department.
there is an officer who is known to write more tickets than others....
he walks into her office and asks for
"a few extra books today" because " he was going to write himself a whole bunch of tickets this weekend"
this of course was said with glee......

someone said it makes more paperwork for them.....its not true, it makes more paperwork for my wife. they dump the tickets on her desk as they walk in.

on the other hand, i got pulled over in another city when i first got my car.
i honestly deserved a ticket. when the officer(s) asked me what they pulled me over for i said yes. i was speeding. they asked how fast i was going i said......i was in the end of second.... they said yeah, we think you were going around 50(in a 35)they checked me out, car was mine..... said to me "sir, we all like to have fun, but make sure theres no cops around when you are having fun next time"
(note they didnt say not to speed)
i said, "ok, is that it"
they said "yes, have a nice day"
and i slowly pulled away.......

some of them are cool, some arent

I did meet one cool cop right after I got my car. I blow by him doing 92 in a 55 per his radar. It was a state police and he was cool ask me where I was going told him home which I was not far from. He told me my speed I told him I just got the car a wanted to get ahead of traffic since they were kicking up dust and what not. He said slow it down and nice car. So some are cool.
