I may be wrong and just out of the times, but I think rust of any kind on any vehicle recently made much less a 2003-2005 is absolutely pathetic and absurd, who's with me? Is this normal for 2003-2005 cars now? Anyone else? Thanks for the fast replies..

I think it depends on where you live and how you drive the vehicle. If you live in Arizona, I would expect you to pretty much have a rust free Evo. However, you if live near the water, or some place really cold (where they constantly lay down salt) a little rust is probably to be expected (on any car) even if they are only 2-3 years old. I think the quality and thickness of the paint, and underbody protection (i.e. wax and other coatings) also plays into things. This is why the Evo may rust slightly faster than other cars. The Evo (at least the 03) seems to have really poor paint that is very thin and chips easily. Hey, you could always strip the car to it's bare chassis, have it acid dipped, and repaint it with House of Kolor Chameleon (and remove all rust in the process)
