whoever said second most stolen is really ..... and like i said before. people steal cars for parts not the car itself. does anyone know how hard it is to actually not strip a car and get it licensed, insured, and legalized? its near impossible especially with the rare Evos. so why would anyone take and evo if they make hardly anything due to no demand of stock products on this car. unless you have universal like mods then thats a diff story.

i think that is a chicago/local thing, like someone stated above. i just checked pretty much every ranking available for stolen cars of 2005 and i did not see the evo, or any mitsubishi, on it. your integra was definitely on the list, with some number like 2 out of every one hundred registered were stolen. keep that **** in tha garage.

It's most likely frequency of theft. They usually rate this based on claims per 1000 insured vehicles, so if 10 Evos in 1000 were stolen it's very likely that it would be up there with the Escalade.

It is true
Here is the link from MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13179668/
It is from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The same ones that do the crash tests. it is likely most stolen for the wing and wheels they say.
11.9 out of every 1000 insured has a theft claim (which is how they rank them).

I think that is just local news hype. That's not a national thing. Probably had a rash of Evo threats in over short period, so they came up with that "report."
The list Enyth posted is one like I have seen more often, and what they have done there is removed all the duplicate entires on the list to make it more "readable". If they break it down to individual model years, the top 10 cars stolen are almost *all* older Accords, Camrys and Civcs.

If more people had real alarms on there cars this would not be such a big problem in this country. If you care about your car get a real alarm. I can not belive how many people have thousands of dollars invested in their cars and no way to protect it from being stolen or vandalized.

That MSN article just says its one that could be stolen, not the 2nd most stolen.
http://www.statefarm.com/insuranc/au...s/grndthft.htm
You can find what is the worst in your state. For MI its a 1994 Dodge Caravan??? Geez, nothing like riding in a stolen minivan I guess.

That list is total # of thefts. Original poster is refering to the AP article where they ranked cars by % that get stolen.
Total number of cars stolen is irrelevent IMHO. If Toyota sells 300,000 Camrys a year, and 600 of them get stolen, that's a lot of stolen cars, but only 0.5% of the total that got stolen. If Mitsu sells 6000 Evo XIs and 300 of them get stolen, that's a lot less stolen cars total, but it means that a whopping 5% of all Evo IXs were stolen.
The important number is percent stolen. That number is what tells you how likely your car is to get stolen. And that number is also the number that your insurer looks at to determine your insurance premiums.
