Yes - there are differences, but for the 50% it's 97% UV blocked, for the 5% it's 99% UV blocked. They differ in things like solar heat rejection and glare prevention for sure, but the UV has very little appreciable difference between 50% and 5%.
I got the 3M CS (color safe) non-metallic film, 20% on sides and rear. I love it.

Got 35% in the front, 5% in the back...
I have to get it redone though because they half-assed the job and it looks really bad, but I like it. Where I live it gets to over 100 degrees, so when I leave the car out in the parking lot somewhere the tint helps keep the heat out.
