i can definitely see myself doing that, perhaps sit down and explain the brochure to the cop. or perhaps i can convince him to get an evo for himself, thats commission on top of being pulled over

BS! never in my entire life I was harassed by police in soviet union. for those who played by the rules it was pretty much relaxed and liberal country, sometimes much more liberal that US. You could've drink beer on the street and drive you Lada with pretty much no exhaust at all Once stopped on a highway pay $5 toll to a cop and continue your way

I got pulled over once as it looked like I was speeding to the officer (which I was by about 10mph over the posted 45), the guy was cool, very professional and let me go with a warning.
However, should I get pulled over for a BS reason like we have here then I will be recording the conversation with my personal recorder I use for work...I keep it in the car.
Probable cause should not apply to the Evo as its quite wild in stock form. Showing the officer the brochure would reinforce that and hopefully prevent you from wasting your time.
I think its time the SEMA boys stepped up the police eduction aspect of the business otherwise the entire industry is in trouble.

I can honestly say for the first time that I'm glad I live in Missouri. So far I've had 2 tickets, but they were both for speeding. I deserved them. I have yet to be hassled for my exhaust or any of my modifications. However, they will make sure you have your front plate on. Other than that, they could care less what you have done to your car.

San Diego isnt that bad. I havent been pulled over for nothing, although, I have been pulled over for speeding... 55+ in a 45 with no traffic around at 10 PM. Just be civil with the cop and they do the same.

Never been pulled because of a "modified" vehicle in Chicago. I never knew there were laws like that. Its my car, I thought I can do anything I want with it, as long as its emission leagal.
Where can I get a list of moddified no no's? I just want to see what it is.
Thanks

We have 5th ammendment rights that the police infringe on everyday, and most people let them get away with it when they should instead get a lawyer and go after them.

I live in the UTC area of San Diego, next to a Cop Shop and I have never been pulled over after buying the EVO. I don't have a front plate and drive by the station every day and still haven't been sited yet.
I have seen them set up, random Smog Station to catch those with out Cat's and Illegal Modifications, in areas like Rancho Bernardo and Chula Vista, but removing the Cat in CA. is just asking for it. I don't think San Diego is as bad as some might think, I'm in area's like Mera Mesa and Kearney Mesa all the time and the local guy's can contest, these are high profile areas for Modified Imports and I never get harassed.
I think a lot of it can be chocked up to Bad Luck, wrong place and the wrong time. There's good Cops and bad Cops, just got to make sure you have your *** covered.

have some mercy for us that live in CA
i travel up and down throughout cali and have only been stopped 2 times by CHP because of speeding... fair and square
so far no trouble from cops yet.
i still think as long as we drive carefully and obey speed limit we should be fine.
