E.I. Evo VII on eBay?

E.I. Evo VII on eBay?
Even though I don't have the cash to pick anything up, I still frequent the forums and check for deals. On the surface http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4650743593 looks like a pretty straight-forward deal, but the fact that it's an E.I. car makes me feel like it could be shady (I was on here back when a lot of people lost their money). Does anyone have a CarFax or otherwise account where they could run the VIN and see what comes up? I'm curious, but not about to spend $20 to satisify that curiosity. I think if this thing was legit and I had the cash, I'd probably pick it up, if not only for the novelty of owning something rare at a pretty killer price.
Any thoughts?

it's got the VII valve cover, tails, wing, front end, etc.
what i don't get is that it's LHD but has a bunch of JDMish tags. i thought euro cars were also RHD?
that evolution VII badge looks fake, although that may be how the real VII badges look.
interesting.

I like the small things, like the gauge panel says Evolution instead of Lancer. Also does anyone know what that is coming out from the #1 runner in the header? They don't come with a EGT stock, do they?

New Zealand or Mid East destined car? The tubes are A.I.R. injection I believe to help burn off unburned fuel for non-US/cats emmissions? FQ underhood has same tubing. I bet the VII gets legalized ala 'Bill gates supercar law' loophole. You arent supposed to drive a '7' legally more than 2,500 miles a year in the USA if you register it for street use as this car cannot pass pointless 5mph crash tests or has correct emmissions or rear bumper lighting.
Heres background on imported cars since Gates got it passed

Wow, guys, you all need to think before you type. The "tubes" on the front of the engine is the DISABLED Anti-lag system that was required by the FIAA for homologation rules to run Evo's in the WRC. This is a REAL Evo VII that was converted to RHD by Evolution Imports. The company recently shut down I believe.

I didn't think it was needed for WRC class homologation though. I thought it was actually a homologation requirement for group N.

Did anyone happen to find out if it's registered as a Lancer Evolution VII, or simply as a Lancer? Grey-market cars are always difficult to deal with, especially when it comes time to register it in a new state or get insurance. If the VIN pops up as a Lancer, what happens when your $23k investment is smashed and they want to pay you $8k in damages? Sounds like it wouldn't be worth the hassle if that were the case. It would be cool if someone like Clem would chime in on Evo VII ownership... I believe he had a car from E.I.

I've encountered situations like this one too many times. The owner is "moving" to New Zealand, or the UK, or some other foreign country and when you're ready to purchase the car, they take your money and run.
I wouldn't buy this car unless you actually get the chance to see it in person and test drive it.
