350-360 with basic bolt-ons and a custom tune, but maybe much more when the GSC 280s come out.

You really need to search instead of asking basic questions, though. Don't abuse our willingness to help.

What can the stock clutch on the IX handle, assuming the car isn't launched? I'm too looking at about 350whp, but don't want to get into "must replace clutch" territory.

OK this is what you need

TBE
intake
boost gauge/boost controller
Alky kit
hks 272' or 280's
apr head studs(might as well)
walbro 255plh
new clutch

with just those mods 390's are right there maybe more depending on tune

my buddy has everything but fuel pump, cams, and head studs made 378hp 374tq

HKS does not have cams available. This is a IX.

Dawn, the IX does not have a special clutch - it's the same as all previous year USDM Evos, so just look at all the Evos for the past 4 years. There's more to wearing out the clutch than launching. 350wtq will probably shorten it's life. If you don't want to worry about your clutch, then don't mod.

actually u can use any exhaust cam just not intake cams for the 9 so HKS 280's or 272's can be used

Koevo youre so wrong man. Try putting down 400whp on the stocker and tell me how long it lasts Without even launching it would probably take a shyt in a short amount of time.

go to www.dentistmapped.com
based out of the UK-they got evo's with 400whp using a DD dyno AND stock exhaust with just a MoTeC ECU alone!!!! they also came out with a BB stock turbo w/ a 4" inlet that will help u get another 50whp on top of the 400...

No, that would be a single 280 or single 272, not 280s or 272s. YOu said to get HKS cams - he can only get an exhaust cam, and that is not proven to make much power.

Anyways when you say 400whp your not going to get exactly that much......
IX's are easy/cheap to modify, making 360-390whp on the stock turbo and 93 octane isn't a problem with the right mods and proper tune. When the HKS mivec cams and mivec controller are availble 400-450 whp stock turbo evo IX's will be common place.

go to turbotrixs forum the exhaust cam is making 25-30hp just with that. If not spend an extra 700 and get a 20g turbo for the 9 and there u will have no problems with going over 400

Honestly i think just getting a k&n drop in filter is best instead of buying an intake.
