Any complaints about shep tranny or t.r.e.??? more...

I cant decied what to do and my friends are useless for advice. so im turning to my cyber friends lol.... here are my choices, money is an issue so dont just say more expensive is better...

i'm debating whether to go with t.r.e.'s tranny swap for 2k. its a completely different tranny, its fully built top notch everything. and instead of the short evo 9 4th gear it has the evo 8 longer 4th which is nice to have. they send me their tranny then i send them mine. so sounds top notch stuff and ill never have to worry about it again which is my goal

my 2nd choice is doing the shep racing rebuild which is all i ever read about. my only issue here is finding a shop willing to pull out my tranny and let my car sit there until i get my tranmission back for them to install it. is his work going to be as good as the tre tranny with all the extra stuff they put in.

i have the money to go with tre, the convience is worth a little extra, but is it worth 1000$ extra?

thanks alot guys!

Jon Ripple (TRE) is pretty busy. He's had a tranny of mine for six weeks and it's hard to get ahold of him. When you do reach him, he's very helpful and informative. It's just hard to get in touch with him in person. Nothing but good things to say about the work, though. I've got one in my Evo right now, and it shifts extremely well.

Shepard is also a very good person for rebuilds. I know a number of people with Shep rebuilds, all of whom are very happy with the work that was done. You can also get ahold of John much more easily.

Wow. Six weeks? Even though I think they were just as busy at the time, they only had my GSX trans for 1 week and it was fairly damaged. I'm sending my GS-T trans to them and then when my Evo needs it, off to TRE it will go.

It needed some parts that were backordered from Mitsu. Jon is busy, but not "six weeks behind" busy

Both do great work but I would go with whoever claimed the fastest turn around.

As for a shop to pull your tranny. I suggest finding a local evom member willing to pull the tranny for you (someone who has done it before) and just leave the thing at your place while waiting for the tranny.
