2006 Evo MR Pricing- Converting STi Owner

So I have made the decision. I will be selling my 05' White on Gold STi for either a GG or WW EVO MR sometime this summer. Unfortunately, I live in the Bay Area where Mitsu dealers think the EVO is the highest demand car on the entire strip, constantly asking above MSRP.

Now, being in California I have seen great deals everywhere else but where I live. I have negotiated with dealerships and they all want MSRP or more. I have been on this forum as a guest researching prices and modifications. Great site by the way, its a relief from NASIOC although there are still the idiots

I really fell in love with the MR after I couldn't possibly put myself through the agony of owning a new 06' STi, they are just too friggin Tribeca, which equates to friggin ugly.

My questions is where should I buy a MR. I've seen some people picking them up brand new for 33,000 (in Iowa?), and at this price I would be sold! I have some time as I am trying to sell the STi and expect to purchase the EVO by the end of summer. I would be willing to purchase the car out of state if needed.

Has anyone purchased a vehicle out of state that lives in Cali to get a better deal? Keep in mind this is not a used sale but a sale from a dealership, this may change things legally...Anyway, I plan to do my own research but if you have any tips on some cool dealerships, whether local to the Bay Area or not, I'd Appreciate it!

Mark

Go to South Coast Mistubishi. Current pricing is

EVOLUTION IX RS $25,999 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX GSR $27,999 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX SSL $31,299 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX MR $32,999* INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE

*MR PACKAGE AND ZERO LIFT KIT IS INCLUDED TO THE PRICE*

http://www.norcalevo.net/forum/index...c,10806.0.html

You could fly down there, and drive it back up. Just make sure you vary the RPM's...

32.5k OTD means it was around 30k purchase price. You actually got an MR for almost 5k below invoice? SouthCoast only sells them for 32,999 with destination charge, but that's before tax, tag, and title. How in the world did you get one for way less than that at Yonkers?

Mark, you shouldn't expect ever to get an Evo for that ridiculous price, but you can get one right now from SouthCoast Mitsu for the price I listed above. Search for them on here or search for threads started by the username evolution_4_all.

It might be the best deal for you to sell your car privately, buy from South Coast Mitsu, and then fly down to pick up the car. I'm sure someone here would give you a ride from the Santa Ana airport to the dealer (maybe even the dealer?) since it's so close. Then you get a fun drive home.

Just as an FYI...if you buy a car outside of CA and then bring it in within 1 year, you have to pay a ridiculous "use tax". I just moved from OR where we got my wife a used beemer before we came down. We're going to have to pay like a $1,600 "use tax" to register the car. Utter bullcrap.

Cash doesn't mean anything to dealers. They much prefer that you finance - they make a lot more money that way. Plus, selling 4 Evos for 5k under invoice doesn't do much good either.

Seems that you guys know everthing. I will post the contract later.
We baught every Evo they had.
And most dealers like to move the inventory. The more cars they sell the more they get.
Some dealer work on little profet and more volume. It all adds up the same to them at the end of the month.

And another thing. If you think the invoice that they show you is the cost on the car.. well think again. I worked in a dealer for 10 years and the invoice you see is not the cost on the car. They also get money on the back end for more sales.....

I bought mine IX at Capitol Mitsubishi dealer. I got it below the invoice as they advertised it on news paper. But then I have to pay some $700 extra for the wing (we all know that's 20hp). Don't remember all details but it's still somewhere around 1.5K or 2K below the invoice.

If you consider financing then you have to look at the whole package, not just the base price. Rate is negotiable as well.
