You can't be serious...

Getting a hard pipe is not what makes you hear the turbo and BOV. You're actually willing to negatively affect your car's tune and power delivery in order to make sound?

If you get JUST A FILTER (no hard pipe or pipes needed), you will hear everything loud and clear, but you still have to get tuned. It saddens me when all these newbs are willing to sacrifice performance just for some noise.

while we are on the topic of the stock intake, i heard that the stock induction for evo 8's can work with up to 400 hp. Is that true or do you need to upgrade your intake when going over 300hp? I currently have a the complete stock intake and don't want to have to spend the money on an upgrade if it is not necessary. THe only other upgrades I have for my car is a buschur 2.5" ss dp and espelir 80mm ss catback.

my friend that has a06 STI got a injen intake and you can hear his bov, it sounds like a after market one, and it is still stock. and you can hear his turbo spool up. so just a filter will make it louder?

Not 400hp - 400WHP (big difference - much more power). No need to touch the intake anywhere near 300whp.

You need a cat replacement, mbc, bov, fuel pump, licp, tune...cams, o2 housing, ported stock manifold, alky, then FMIC (in that order but with additional tuning depending on how many of the mods you do at once).

I had 494 whp on the stock intake! So yes intake is not needed for relatively big Whp.

And unfortunately, you want to SOUND like your STI instead of blowing his doors off by spending your money on mods that make you faster. Yes, the stock airbox is what limits the noise, not the MAF pipe. A simple cone filter from Buschur for $80 will do the trick, BUT YOU MUST GET TUNED FOR IT in order for the car to run properly.

My eclipse with SSQBOV even with recirc caused it to stumble a bit when RPMs fell. I just richened up the lowest rpm's with S-AFC and it sort-of worked.

I provided you 2,723 threads discussing this. The least you can do is read some of them instead of asking us the question that we've answered 2,723 times with increasing levels of anger.
