I am totally pissed off that this happened to you, and it's not even my car. In a perfect world I would demand a new engine, new transmission, new TC, new clutch, and new braking system, plus the cost of a rental car while it's being repaired. Who knows how much unseen damage was caused in those 200 miles? The damage might not be evident for another year or so.
What will ultimately happen though? I would say that at the least you could get some monetary compensation. Shop owners aren't stupid and they know what kind of car the Evo is. He/she knows that your car was abused. I would try to have an idea of what you want to get and then politely bring it to his attention. If you don't get anywhere I would then calmly mention that you will do everything you can to make life difficult for him (attorney action, BBB report, notifying insurance company, consumer advocate groups, etc...). Good luck and keep us posted. I'm very interested in how this turns out.

I guess it would be a good idea to set your expectations high when he asks you what you would like to do about the situation. Just be sure to keep a straight face when you tell him you want a brand new car as compensation!

Did you pay for the work?
If you did see if you can cancel payment until the owner or shop manager gives you something for the flat out abuse. If they wont to anything - dont pay them - go to court with it - I doubt a mediator or judge will like hearing 200 miles of random driving. That is excessive - 10 miles OK, 200 - ya right.

when you go in and talk to them, if they dont do anything about it. then threaten that ur going to freeze the check and hire a lawyer. also tell them about you calling the insurance company...should scare them...a 1000$ isn't worth losing many many jobs over the next many years by losing the insurance as an advertising outlet
cheers!

I would cancel the check now instead of waiting until Monday. That way they know you mean business and they actually have some incentive to deal with you. If you have already paid them they dont really have any reason to do much of anything. When you say something about legal action they will more than likely not even flinch. Im sure they have heard it before.

sounds like something that happen to me. My evo was sent to a bodyshop because the dealer detailer scratched the trunk and hood pretty bad. When i drop off the car it had a full tank and 401 miles on it. when I picked it up three days later it had 3/4 tank and 435 miles on it. weird!

i hate those fools at the watertown dealer. i made the mistake of buying my car there in the first place. everytime i go there to get a new oil filter, they always give me the wrong one. i called about a problem and they gave me the run around for hours.
put a hold on the check until this whole thing is resolved.
here's your opportunity to do some 5k launches and burn out and then turn around and blame them for it.
