Hire a lawyer and let him fight it. I'm thoroughly convinced that lawyers give the judges kick backs to drop sh*t that you or I wouldn't stand a chance against.

I got a ticket for doing 80 in a 65. Got a lawyer, paid some money, and it went away.

Most of the time, if your record isn't too bad, they'll reduce the fine if you just go and pay it. Unless you have a lawyer, you won't win in court.

YOU DO NOT want to get it reduced, EVERY surcharge is 2 points of your driving record. TRUST ME you want to get it cleared 100 percent.
I dont think your screwed, I have gotten outta 5 tickets in the last 2 years, even one for drag racing. Good thing i got some lawyer buddies.

Depending on the District court that it was in i could give you a few pointers. PM me.

exercise your judgement in fighting tickets - the ones where you flagrantly broke the law - just pay the fine.

You do NOT want to do this. The way that MA court systems work is alittle different. Fight it to the end and you will win. do not stop appealing it ... Im a step 32 and still havent lost my right to drive. And still havent payed any fee's

Either way you look at it you are going to pay them. Thats all they care about is their money. So I advise to not really admit guilt but see if there is someway you can avoid points on your license, but still tell them you will pay the fines. I have been hit really hard in my time (not only in cars but i was a demon on my bikes, and had the same thing happen to me, Cop HEARD me and i got a ticket) but when i went to court most of the time they would drop the ticket IF i payed the fines and it would not hurt my record. So my advice pay them but try to work something out to avoid hurting your record.

you get to a point where you just want to cut your losses.

I fought my 400 dollar ticket:

appealed in front of magistrate, lost. money for parking and gas, down the drain. appealed to go in front of judge, another $20 bucks.

did tons of research and preparation for my cross examination, calling the courts and police barracks on my lunch breaks, etc - valueable time down the drain. went up in front of judge, lost. More money for parking and gas down the drain.

At this point I'd spent atleast 15-20 hours of time on this and had spent probably $40 bucks in parking and gas, nevermind the 2 days of work I lost.

To take the appeal to an appellate court, just the fee would've been $180. I could have possibly gotten off but I could lose again and lose more money and time.

For a ticket where you're doing 90+mph in MA, and most likely anywhere, it's gonna take quite the argument to get away with it. I am very familiar with the appeal process in MA and what angles you can play off. In this instance, I just didn't want to put up with the aggravation anymore and to still have the possibility of losing.

just hire a lawyer to fight it
it will end up saving u money due to the new point system

no point will be deducted in 3 yrs . u will be stucked.

If u have lic for 6+ yrs , each point is 15% surcharge
so u will pay 30% more for 3 yrs , then 15% more for 2 more yrs if u dont get caught for other stuff

Like I said before hire a lawyer. It is going to cost you one way or another.

Don't fight it, you end up paying the ticket and get higher insurance for the next three years. NG

Fight it yourself, maybe get off but, waste time, money and inconvenience yourself for a 50/50 chance of getting the same result as just paying it.

Hire a lawyer, let him fight it, never go to court, take any time off, or do any research and stand a much better chance of getting it dropped but, you have to pay him.

The Man

Hire a Lawyer, become a Cop, or rethink the speeding ticket. Think of it as buying a ticket which permits you to speed. All those times you never got caught,... it's because you bought a ticket. One other possibility, get a wingless trunk. I know a wingless guy who ditched a radar cop by ducking into regular traffic before the cop could get a visual. Cop sped right past him in pursuit. Lovely.

verytime they catch you on lidar or radar a reciept is printed out and when you go to court you can say that you requested a reciept that you were going 90 and they won't have anything to prove that you were going 90. My friend taught me this, he is taking criminal law.
Uhm, honestly taking legal advice from a friend taking criminal law isnt the best option. He shouldnt even be giving legal advice, he can get in trouble doing that.
