If you have a IX make sure you check your hose clamps...

Well after hearing alot of stories about intercooler pipes blowing off during driving it finally happened to me last night....was going about 40 in 4th and started to lightly accelerate...then BOOM...car started shuddering and didn't wanna go anywhere. Pull off to the side of the road and sure enough the hose to my throttle body was totally off anyways all it took was a screwdriver and it was back on. Bad thing was I had tightened this clamp before because I had heard of the probs...so just a heads up to all you IX owners.

Don't use just a screwdriver!! You'll never get it tight enough. Do it the right way with a socket and crank the heck out of it.

That may not be the best idea. It need to be tight but don't crank the heck out of it. If you do it will bend the slots and mess up the clamp. Best is to replace them with t-bolt clamps.

T-clamps, way to solve the problem and either 8mm or 10mm socket.

My IX is almost new (3,000 miles on it, unmodified), and I'd like to give the clamps a twist just in case they've loosened. How easy is it to get at the clamps on the LICP? Can I reach under the bumper while the car is parked? Do I need to jack it up? Thanks.
