grease on new evo?!

I just bought a new evo MR from south coast mitsubishi about a month ago and I noticed that there is an abundent amount of grease and grim on the bottom of the car. Is this normal? I noticed this when I did my oil change this past weekend and also when I put my hand on the undercarriage above the wheels.

Is this normal for anyone?

yeah, it's got about 1100 miles on it. But it's been super dry here in L.A.. Road's been pretty normal...besides being hot this past couple of weeks.

Ya its some sort of wax or something like it that they spray on the engine compartment to help prevent rusting due to shipping accross from Japan.

There is a coating of grease undermeath the car. Probably for sound insulation. I got a lot of that on me when I changed my exhaust.

It's just undercoating. Normal on all new cars for rust prevention.

it's completely normal.
That's how they come from the factory.

Just try not to get it on yourself.
I almost scrubbed my arm off trying to get that thing off after installing my exhaust.
It's a pain in the a$$ to get it off.

I usually wash my car's underbody after. so I bought those soft bristled brush to take out some mud or dirt under the wheel well. to my surprise when I started cleaning it that the "same" grease was transferred to the brush. I guess it comes with this "grease-based" or rubber-based undercoating

That stuff sucks. I bought my car with 4 miles on it. Came straight home and put it on the lift to change exhaust. I had it all over me.
