I'd love it if someone came out with a leather shift knob for the MR. Metal shift knobs are the worst idea in the world for street cars.

I don't think that would work, because of the reverse lever.

I have the Greddy counterweight shift knob....when it is hot, I just shift a little faster. It has gotten very hot though.

Man what a bummer. I'm glad this thread didn't have a picture of the MR shift knob melted into your hand. That would have sucked.... or would it....

yeah, I was using a heavy greddy knob and switched back to the stock leather after nearly branding "YΔΔЭЯఎ" on my hand!

(sorry, that was the closest I could come to GREDDY backwards )

I live in South Texas where summer lasts 9 months. I shift using the base of the shifter until the metal ball itself has time to cool down.

I believe there is a part number for a stock 6spd leather shift knob

I do the same thing. Put it on after parking it so it'll be ready for you when you get back.

I found this guy when I had my miata. I got a custom metal voodoo engraved by him and the knob glove as he calls it.

I use a sock to drive with (and release the hand brake) until they both cool.
