I don't shift to 5th, I'm at about 6.8k in 4th when crossing the line

Do you know that the IX and MR 4th gear are almost the same?

Yeah the MR gears are Perfect. 1-4 is almost the same as the 5 speed, 5th gear a little shorter, 6th is taller, it's optimal and shifts better then the 5 speed.

Go back to evolutionmr.net! Just kidding.

What I don't understand is why this would make a difference to someone getting a flash or any significant level of mods.

it's too bad they screwed with the 5-speed gearing for the IX...if the IX had the Evo8 ratios it would be no contest vs. the 6-speed.

If you have an early model IX the dealer can update the ecu firmware version with a scanner from what i understand.

uhh what? they improved it so much... 1-2 shifts don't jerk, much smoother, and they had harder lines, so it's really notchy.. which is awesome. I've owned both cars and can say the ix's gearing is slightly shorter closer to the lower 4 MR gears, and pretty sweet.

I don't even have an MR and know well enough they don't go into 5th at all. The MR's first 4 gears are identical to the IX's first 4 gears which is what we'll all use no matter what.

At Works they reflashed my ECU with the newer version that the evo 9s came with. Mine was one of the first, purchased first week it came out, and most likely had the earliest ECU version.

The latter evo 9s ecu was modified in the oil pump to engage earlier or something like that. So mine got updated with that also.

is that really true? to get the oil pump moving sooner or something?

I wouldnt want to upgrade my ECU because I'll lose my custom flash...

Just got mine a week ago, I always thought it was hawaii for the rusty manifolds as our rain contains alot of acid. I remeber looking at my frinds 8 and yep it was rusty.. and I was reading a few post back about a blueish, kinda silverish color and yep.. it's true.. I dnt have a camera sorry. to me the color looks like a fish and indeed feels coated.. it reminds me of my RS*R I had on my Z33..
