Intake System for Evo9

Which intake system would you guys recommend for my evo 9? I’m looking to spend as little as possible since I do know intakes do not do too much for the turbo cars. But I love to hear that sound that the turbo makes with the intake.

Intake systems for the Evo9 don't do too much over a stock box and K&N panel until you get into aftermarket turbos. However, if you feel you must for the few extra hp on the stock turbo and doing it mainly for looks (and perhaps sound), then I say I've been happy with my BR upper IC pipe, compressor inlet pipe, and air filter. Nice setup with a decent tune via flash, does not blow fittings off, and works well with the stock bypass valve. Looks good too if that matters.

if you dont care about performance and just want to hear the turbo and stock diverter valve than you might like the hks rs intake

I do care about performance. But I have not seen any difference with an intake on the Subaru’s and I assume it is the same with the Evo. But like I said I love the way it sounds.

You'll probably get the sound you're looking for with a drop in filter....maybe someone who has used one can chime in and help you.

If you get an intake, it will require tuning. Please do not get one just for sound when you know that it doesn't do much for performance. In fact, it will hurt performance without a tune, so getting an intake while not wanting to spend a lot of money is a contradictory thing, since you also have to pay for tuning. Then, if you add real mods later, you'll have to tune again...

If you absolutely must get an intake just to make noise, then get the $80 BR cone filter.

If you must buy an intake get the A'pexi Power intake, it provides the best filtration. I have this intake and I love it. It retails for about $100 at most shops. Check out this air filter test.

Get a drop in filter. The stock box is good until 350-400whp.

I have to agree with Warrtalon,Buschur cone for 80.00. it will give you the sound you are looking for but dont foreget to get tuned.just do the mail in dyno flash to make sure your not running to lean.Besides the sound your looking for you,ll also get the extra power and great driveability from the flash.its your choice good luck.
