Evo IX Seat Wear.

Evo IX Seat Wear.
Although the Evo IX seats look excellent compared to the Evo VIIIs, I can tell that sitting on suede isn't going to last as long as the Evo VIII thick mesh style seating. So, has anyone had any obvious wear to their Evo IX seats yet, any rips, etc?

The amount of seat fading and wear depends on how you treat the seats....Alcantara is a very easy material to screw up....I had it on my stock type-r seats...
If you sit the car in the sun either have a sun shade or jackets to cover the seats so that they dont turn purple or fade.....it is not a matter of the seat itself it is just the way alcantara is...
Secondly DO NOT let anyone with velcro or zippers sit on those seats....it will wear the material and could puncture it
This is another hint.....DO NOT let fat people sit in your car....I'm serious on this one too...people over 240lbs will wear the bolsters and will stretch the seat.....Recaro's are not meant for heavy people...thats just a fact....
All of these tips come from a person that has kept his alcantara seats perfect color and non worn for over 5 years

I weigh 195 and I'm 5'11" so ur fine....its for the people that have all the weight in their hips and thighs....stretches the seat out
Also forgot.....jeans and any kind of abrasive material will screw up the alcantara and leave marks....I'm sure everyone with a IX that has left anything heavy in the backseat while moving or something....even a cardboard box with some stuff in it or a text book will leave line marks on it.....
Tint will help even clear UV tint will help in the not fading.....but like I said if your windows are down and you park your car in the sun then it will fade.....that's why i dont want to buy an evo from places that sit the car outside all day long.....
The material will eventually show creases and some slight fading...but if you take care of it.....then it will stay nice for a long time.
And before anyone asks.....if you NEED to clean it or someone spills something on it.....use a mixture of MILD soap and water and dip a terry cloth in it and start rubbing lightly until it comes out and use a dry towel afterward....MILD soap means something without bleach or other chemicals.....a simple bar soap and warm water will do.....do not rub the soap on the stain....let the soap sit in the warm water for like 10-15 seconds and it should get enough soap residue in the container to be able to dab the towel in it and then work the stain out.

OK like I said it's more due to body type....If u have ever seen JDM recaros from an integra they most likely were worn on the alcantara area...given that the seats have alcantara bolsters instead of inserts like the evo so I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes.....
But lets just say this.....a tall 240lb person should be fine.....
But if it's that ****ing fat 240lb 5'4" girl that's friends of your gf....then tell her you will give her 5 bucks for a cab and spare your seat from the wear and tear of the fat girl....
Hahhah I dont mean to diss fat people....**** i'm overweight by at least 30 lbs according to index.....but seriously the material wears fast and a fat chick in the back ain't helping anybody....make her walk it off

put alcantara into google and it will show you a website dedicated to it....they will tell you to clean it like I said.....they produce the alcantara in the US
I have heard of people using suede cleaner....but I hear that it causes discoloring....I guess it all depends on what you spilled....so if its like spaghetti sauce or melted chocolate then good luck to you....my advice was for normal stuff like some dirt or something not too extreme

I use leather protectant in small amounts sometimes, just so it keeps it slightly moisturized from the excessive heat in FL. It doesn't damage it or anything, it actually makes it feel new again for about a week.
