Question O2 sensor in cat stripped threads! HELP!

So I changed the exhaust to the AMS tbe and while taking out the sensor from the cat the threads stripped out. I called mitsu and they said its 400bucks for a new one!! The sensor itself is fine but wont stay in the pipe. Any ideas on what to do??

Could i put a small tig weld on it to hold it in the AMS pipe??

Can I get an aftermarket sensor for it other then OEM??

So it's the pipe that's stripped or the O2 sensor? Either way you can weld a new bung in and you're ready to go. Either that, or go buy those "antifoulers" and still you need to weld it in.

I believe the threads on the O2 sensor are stripped. Either way, you either spend $400 on a new sensor, or you tack weld the one you have in place for now. I would do the anti fouler or mechanical O2 fix now that you're in there.

Derek, let me know if you need anything.

You can get generic o2 sensor from auto store for less than $100, I believe brand was Bosch that my local store carried for $94.99.

I'd get a spark plug antifouler and weld the o2sensor to that

Phone oxygensensors.com or sumitracing, they shold be able to hook you up with a non oem one for around 100 bucks. If you need a oem one you can get it from mitsubishiparts .com
