The only problem i see with FJF's post is the fact that he states that the main reason for owning the car is for performance purposes; but to me, if i wanted an all out performance car at a practical price i would just buy an old Civic, drop an H22 in it, turbo it, and smoke super cars for 1/2 the price of a stock Evo. Evo's only run high 8's to date, performance is a hard pressed reason to soley keep your Evo when DSM's are in the high 6's...

I think looks, price, practicality, and performance all play a role here. All the listed aspects are hardly perfected, but enough to get me to keep the car for now, it would be hard to say forever though; these roles are hard to justify, which is what will one day bring end to my Evo.

I'll be keeping it til the motor goes and dropping a buschur built 2.0 into it . If the tranny goes it'll be a shep tranny. Repeat with each part, replacing with something better. Til our gas supply runs out >

I understand what you're saying and I truly appreciate your perspective. I wasn't referring to running in a straight line when I mentioned performance. IME, The Evo is unique in its price range by offering the pilot a street legal, road course-capable racecar.

I think looks, price, practicality, and performance all play a role here. A role that is hard for me to justify sometimes; which is what will one day bring end to my Evo.

I just bought a used VIII, which I will keep for at least a year or two. I plan on getting a used IX at some point. Either way, I think I will try to keep an EVO on hand forever. I think it is such a cool car, one that if you are driving down the road in 15 years, assuming it is still in great condition, people will really stop and stare.

I have contemplated selling mine but have had a change of heart. I've wanted one since I learned about 4g63t's in 96 and have wanted one ever since. I have a 9mo old son who's gonna probably inherit it. When he's 8 or so we'll start building it into a monster if I don't start by myself before then .

Definitely will be keeping it. It is the only car that I've had that keeps me smiling every time I come back in my garage and look at it and keeps me entertained everytime I drive it.

I cant see how people keep a car for 6 months to a year,,, Flushing $3500 for sales tax on a $30k,,, over and over again, god Im smarter than that , and thats saying somthing.

Im always looking for the next bigger and better thing with cars, I just love them.
But after I get my evo paid off, I dont think I can stomach another $30k car loan. And that is using the evo as a trade in down payment,, thinking I can get $15k for the evo in 13 months and about 60k on the odo.

But you know,, and most pass over it each day/week/month/year.... you only live once, that we know of,,, and you never know when your going to punch out. So with that in mind, I would love to try out another new car,, ie the 335i, of 335ix. And if I dont like it , well time to play the car game again.

Yea I know I just contridicted myself,,,, it happens often lolololol,,,,damn cars!

All in all the evo is going to be hard to part with,,, sellers remorse is setting right over my head.
