Another reason not to let your wife drive...

...your Evo at the Autocross:

She's making the most of 275/40 V710s her second time out in the Evo! No one can accuse her of not cornering hard. I saw 1.20 Gs lateral acceleration when I rode with her- and I realized I had the G meter set to display 1.2 Gs max, so I think she got a little more.

The lady is FAST.

Here's the best tricycle impersonation that I could manage:

It's just a matter of time before she beats me. She only has to find 0.7 seconds so far.

Thanks, but if you come to Western NC you can see it for free!

While she was doing one of her runs, the announcer (we have a professional who broadcasts on a low powered FM transmitter and through loudspeakers) called the Evo a "modern Supercar" and told all about its power, drivetrain, suspension, etc. He is very knowledgeable about cars and loves Evos.

We got first and third time fastest stock; a former NC autocross champion used a Corvette, 315/35 Hoosiers, and all of his skill to nick my wife by 19 thousandths of a second on his last run- after she went faster than him on every preceeding run. I bet he was sweating bullets, because he knows she's a Novice (six autocrosses so far, only two in the Evo- and I haven't taught her to launch it yet!).

Nice man! I have been wanting to get my gf started also. She loves driving on a twisty by my house and I have tried to get her to go karting. She is too scared to drive the race car so maybe I can teach her how to drive the evo.

My girl wants to learn too. Thats why I bought her the Miata. Cheap and fun to drive. Not to powerful for a beginner. Hopefully she will quit bugging me to drive the Evo and just continue to take pictures on it in her panties........

Awesome! Nice to see some ladies out there getting some seat time in. My lady is helping with the rebuild costs as she knows in return she will get all the seat time she wants in next year's Auto-x schedule.

Where are you guys located in NC??? Any Events going on around Thanksgiving? I'll be down in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area for the week

Off topic - but did I read that right? 275 tires? wow. Did you need a shoehorn to squeeze those in there? Which make/model tires?

We're in the Asheville area, so the season ends in October; the lots are too cold for sticky tires (although we have 'crossed while it was snowing in April).

I bet there are some events down there, but I don't know for sure. Enjoy your visit to NC!

Kumho Ecsta V710s, stock Enkeis, no spacers. They rub the front shock tower/spring perch a bit, but so far, so good!

wow that is pretty nice. my girl tried to drive the integra and she just doesn't like it. she complains about the clutch. and as for the evo, the bov and turbo g's intimidate her (if she drove it). lol
