Help! Downpipe install question?

I just installed my Megan downpipe and UR 3" Test Pipe. Install was easy until I got to the spring screws for the downpipe. I cannot get the screws to tighten down. The holes are lining up but they get to a certain point and will not go any further.

I know they go further because the springs are still loose. Please help!

The only thing I can think of is that the bolts are not threading into the O2 housing. You have to push pretty hard on the bolt as you turn it. I used an impact and they tightened right down. Once the bolts catch, they will spin until they are tight. You need to turn them even further until the springs are seated all the way. Hope this helps.

Are you trying to reuse the bolts from your oem downpipe? If so, you aren't supposed to use those, you are supposed to use the bolts that it comes with.

The flanges are usually different than the stock dp. You need to use the hardware that came with it.

I had the same problem trying to use the stock spring bolts to put the DP back on. The heat that those bolts go through is so extreme that once you take them out they do not go back in, the threads get all messed up. I ended up retapping my threads and using new bolts with no springs. It was a pain in the ***. Also the older your car is the more those stock bolts get useless. Hope this helped.

That makes sense. I used the stock donut gasket and bolts. I will take back off and use the new bolts and gasket. Thanks everyone for your help.

I don't get why you would reuse the bolts if they give you new ones? Wouldn't that give you a notion that they are needed lol...no intention to bust on op I just find it strange

Yeah...I took a look at the bolts that came with the downpipe and they looked to short compared to the OEM bolts. I think the 105 degree heat today working in the garage made me not think and rush the job. Just completed with the new bolts and the car sounds great and pulls harder to redline!! Thanks everyone for the input.
