Go buy a Mitsubishi Tech Book. Or just pay attention to when you take things apart. As for making modifications to your head or block.. If you dont have an idea how to build a engine then i suggest you go to a local salvage yard... Pick up a cheap engine.... Honda D15/D16/ and tear it down. But pay attention. Reassemble it after looking over every inch of it.. Just once you get the basics down you can tear down just about anything and reassemble it. Now for making modifications, or filing rings, clearancing bearings, etc... will obviously take alot more time and experience but you will have more knowledge under your belt. I have built quite a few engines within the last 6 years. Started out with a SOHC D15, then to D16y8's, then to B20/Vtec Turbo, a few LS/VTEC,Sleeved,Turbo's, Mitsu 420A engines, (two of them. One turbocharged now and the other N/A), and quite a few 1G 4g63's..... Im sure my next will be my pride and joy... "EVO".

But what i am getting at is a person has to have the nitch for doing something. They can just jump right in and know it all... Hell you can read, read, and read, but still couldn't build a engine worth crap. It takes a lot of thing: Willingness, Desire, automoitve experience of how things work, and Skill...... If you dont understand every sing part of a engine then DO NOT TAKE IT APART. THE SAME GOES FOR A TRANNY... Trannies are not my thing, i will never rebuild one so thats why i sent mine to Jon. But anyways... There is NO book in the world that will sucessfully guide you to remove, tear down, and rebuild a engine. All the books combined may give you a good idea of what to do or how to do it but with the lack of knowing what to file the rings to or to clearane the bearings, or how to use a set of calipers properly then it will never hold up or last. It may run but for how long.

Sorry for such a long post.. but i thought maybe its some good input.

you're right, thanks for the input. It would be better to just get the tech manual from mitsubishi if you want to know how to take things apart. Anyways how much do they price those manuals for?

You're best off ordering the service manual CD off ebay. I believe it's $100 bucks or so.

Damn this threads old, did anyone buy this book? I wonder how it would stand up to today's standards of evo modifications.
