Question Gutting the cat

Hey guys, is there a way to gut the stock cat out and then put an aftermarket test pipe through it, welding the cat back on? I was going on the lines of a stealthy look. I asked a couple of shops around my area if they would be able to and they said that it isn't possible. They also said they wouldn't be able to go through with it because it is illegal for them.

Yea but would it be a straight flow design? There is an oval shape to the cat, wouldn't that affect it a little bit?

THe stock cat is not 3" which is your first problem. IT is easier to cut the stock cat in half and weld it on to the test pipe. But yes it is illegal and you will have a hard time finding someone to do it.

Yea I just wanted to know for the stock exhaust system. That was what I was thinking of welding it to the test pipe but now I need to find someone to do it since I don't have the tools. I was selling it but got a new and better job at Just Tires.

Exactly....Because of this a test pipe is best. The difference in size will cause a flow disruption, although free flowing, a test pipe is what u want.

Alright thank you very much guys. I'll stick with a test pipe unless I find someone to carry out this idea for me. Thanks once again.
