I have heard this many times with the use of that oil. The lifters are picky on the oil run through them and will tick if weight is too thin. I would try going back to stock or 15w Mobil1 next time. Or you could add a qt of a thicker wt in your current oil and drain the same.

I have a ticking noise on my stock IX too. Didn't notice it until around 500 miles, but I think it is just common valve noise. Haven't thought too much of it.

4g63 lifters have been ticking since 1989.

Hondas have VTEC.

Mitsus have VTICK.

Probably a lifter. At oil change time the oil pump pumps air until the filter is full. Air can get trapped in a lifter and it can take days for it to all bleed out. If the noise doesn't go away after a few days then a particle of dirt has lodged there. This still isn't a concern until the knock sensor gets involved.

No valve adjustment on the EVO 4G63. I used to do them on my TEG to quiet them up agian. The injectors are quite loud on the EVO. That could definetly be what your hearing

Warm the car up and follow the Mitsu procedure to quiet the lifter tick and see if it helps.

Basically run the car smoothly up to 3000 RPM for a second and let it come back down. Repeat about 20 or 30 times.
