stupid Insurance Companies! Need Recommendation ASAP!
basically the situation is this:
my stock advans have like 6k miles on them, they dont look too worn down, but its hard to tell
i had the passenger side rear tire get torn and ripped...
so now the insurance company will only cover the damaged tire
i explained to them and sent them a copy of the manual stating that the 4 tires on the car need to have matching thread and that replacing just one tire is bad for the AWD system on the car
the tire being ripped isnt my fault and the person who is at fault, their insurance is covering the costs. BUT, he has the same insurance company as i do
basically, what should i do? the insurance company is claiming that they only have to cover what was damaged and that they will not replace the other 3 tires along with the damaged one
should i make a big deal about this? will the 25% thread difference on the other 3 tires hurt the car?
should i call State Farm YET again and talk to a supervisor and go off? threaten to sue?
im lost on what to do
thanks

not to argue...But why would they cover a wearable item anyways? Just like brakes....They are wearable. I say take what they are willing to give you. Honestly dont push your luck cause im sure they have the type of software where they can put in notes and save information on every client they have for this reason. My reasoning: If they put a note/information in thier system stating your being a PITA and if you ever have a issue down the road i dont think they will go the extra mile to help you out when you really need them to.
Work with them... Try to get them to pay for all new tires and you will pay for the mounting and balancing.

I find rare that a insurance company is willing to deal with wear and tear parts. As far is the ACD, I don't think it would be as sensitive to detect such changes.
From past experiences I know for a fact that changing the tires size on the front or rear axis only could and would cause to set off the Active center differencial.
I once changed tire sizes in the front on a Porsche Carrera 4 and the car couldn't run over 25mph, the ECU kept shutting off the car.
I don't think this is the case though, I went with completely different size tires only in the front but a worn tire should affect that much.
just my .2c

this is just me... but if your that worried about it i would just go with new tires, you can try and get the insurance company to spring for it by using the "its an all wheel drive car and it creates an unsafe driving situation, which could lead to another accident possibly costing you thousands of dollars" and if they dont go for it just spring for the tires yourself, i know that its an expense but winter is coming up anyway and its about time to get some winter tires anyway. Plus luckily they are the stock tires and not some expensive yoko's or something along those lines... just be glad all you lost is a tire ^_^

well, it was actually the entire rim and tire, because the guy who hit the wheel ripped the tire in half
and whoever said "your lucky it's only the stock tire and not some expensive yokos..."
the stock tire IS an expensive yoko....
my problem is, the insurance company is replacing the one damaged tire and one damaged wheel only
i dont care about the wheel
but, replacing one tire with a new one, when all the others are worn down, according to the manual and the dealership is Bad for the AWD system and differential
causing heat and damage...
comments plz

just wondering how he hit just the tire and rim on the rear? no other damage? just tire and rim? got pics?
also if they only go for 1 tire just get the check and buy a set of used yoko's from someone here. you can almost get a full set for the price of 1 new

have them buy one i guess.....if you dont pln on fighting w/ the insurance companyanymore.....then buy the other three.........you dont want one 100% tread running with 3 25% tread tires.......but i would keep the other three and keep them or try and sell them.

Don't worry, I'm sure it bent enough crap and knocked the alignment out enough that the new tire will wear out twice as quickly and catch up to the others.
I hope they are fixing more than just what you listed.
As far as the difference in roll out goes I don't think it is enough to worry about but, if you want piece of mind as said above have tire rack shave it to the same tread depth as the other tires.

Just take the $300 for the new tire, then go to the for sale section on this site and buy a slightly used Yoko for $100 and keep the $200 for your beer - Done deal. If you want new tires, then just buy 1 out of your pocket to at least keep the L&R the same on one end of the the car. You'll be fine, I did that withough any issues.
