Oil Evo 9 MR Australia

In Australia, I use:

S14/15 200SX: Mobil 5/50, Castrol 0-40, both were fine/great!

06 STI: Subie use 5/35 Castrol Magnatec but I used 0W40 Mobil S blend.

On my new 06 Evo, just hit 1500kms, they dont change oil here until 5000kms (AS IF Im leaving it that long) so im about to do the oil filter, oil and drain plug gasket.

What oil should I use?

would prefer to use a major Mobil or Castrol blend as this is the most available over here.

Car gets driven quite hard on the road through the hills etc and sees the high side of 7k relatively regularly. very rare I go for the big launches though, i havent even done ONE yet on my new Evo.

Anyway should I also do the box and other oils at the same time? any guides/how tos I can view? Im sure theres how tos in your how to section. But i want to know what engine oil to use, and if possible, what diff AND tranny oil to use in what viscosity etc.

Thanks heaps for your relatively urgent help!

Hey troe,

Cant answer your question but I'm going to be in the same situation soon (awaiting delivery of my IX).

(I'm from Adelaide too) Delvin from Wayville told me that I dont need to change oil at 1500kms??

The Aussie Mobil 1 5W-50 is of a lower quality than the 0W-40 and 10W-30 which is made in the US.

since you drive your car quite hard, you should stick with full synthetic, not blend. if you live in climate that doesn't get freezing, then you don't need 0W.
