The problem I see is everyone wants the top of the line car for a base model price.I don't beleave in haggling,we don't one shoes and food.I wish did not bring this car over cause they are right, americans don't appriciate what the evo and sti represent. Its that attitude that has the economy the way it is.I am a dealer and I paid sticker and you know what,It was worth every penny.

Mits man, if 2000.proft is not enough profit, then its time to change profesions. to all the true Evo Fans

I live in south florida, and I saw my first evo on the road this past weekend in coral springs....this is the only evo i've seen other than on the lot. Of the 2 dealerships i've inquired at, both immediately offered MSRP as their initial offer, and each had about 10 evos. It gave me comfort in knowing I won't be rushed, and i'll be able to get the color I want with little difficulty when i'm ready to buy.....

Not going to bother replying... then what was that?

Is there something factually inaccurate about what I posted? Car sales are absolutely dismal right now as some of the numbers I posted show and that is absolutely having an effect on the rate of Evolution sales. That is what this thread is about is it not?

And for all the brewhaha about the blacklist, I have yet to talk to a dealership that has ever heard of it so no, I don't think that has had anything like the effect some people would like to believe it has had.

EVO SPECIALIST shoes and food generally are the same price from store to store and you can always find a coupon for food or a sale on shoes so that is a poor analogy. I work hard for my money and when it comes to spending $30,000+ on a car your dam sure I am going to haggle! In these days where people can't find a job and the living expenses (especially in NY & CA) are astronomical I will do everything in my will to save myself some extra cash. By the way your last comment "Its that attitude that has the economy the way it is." You are ridiculous if you are blaming the country's dwindling economy on unappreciative americans! Who are you to say that?!

Where you are maybe they haven't heard of the boycott. But here in So Cal, ALL the dealers I went to had heard of it, and were pissed about it. I got my Evo MSRP because of the boycott. So i definitely think it did a lot of good.

The "Black List" got me a MSRP offer and a test drive along with an appology from the owner of Barret Mitsu in Georgetown, TX. His name is David Smith.

Thanks Coolguy!

That's lovely, but nationally I don't think the impact has been all that great, and here's why. Customers don't know it exists. I talk to 2-3 poeple a day about Evo's. I always ask them if they hit any of the web sites. Very, very few do. I could count on one hand the number that know of Evolutionm for example and some of them didn't even know about the list.

Now, if Coolguy wants to pat himself on the back and brag about how wonderful he is, taking full responsibility for changes in dealer pricing practices, that's fine, but all the evidence points to normal market forces having far more impact than this list.

I meant to say I'm not going to bother arguing. What you said is true to a certain extent. Sales in general are very dismal, along with the rest of the economy. Agregate demand is down and inventory is high. However, I have no doubt at all the the boycott has helped a lot of buyers. When the economy is already bad, people dont tolerate mark-ups. It's like spitting in someones face. Notice how riled up and insulted people get when something's marked-up. When I first announced the idea of the mark-up people jumped on it and participated. I had emails coming out of my ears with dealers to add to the list. This boycott is not something to lift myself up at all. It's just something I'm proud of that it's working. The response was incredible and showed how many people don't appreciate to be ripped off. The threat of boycott spread all over the internet and even on AutoWeek. If the dealer doesnt know about it, they arent in the loop because FWIW word of it spread like a wildfire. When I get home tonight I'll post some of the emails I've received from dealers for "hurting evo sales" or them claiming we're mis-quoting their mark-up when they lowered it that same day and no one knew about it.

I'm not patting myself on the back about anything. With out the members of this forum the boycott would be nothing. We owe it to everyone participating and posting the dealers that were marking-up. I just gathered the data and stuck it in an HTML file. Believe me, I dont consider myself the ringleader of this boycott. My friend and I had an idea, I posted it and it got huge response. That's it.

I never said the list had more impact than the obvious economic conditions. I just said it had SOME impact. Probably very very small.

Have to qualify as a buyer first. Pretty standard stuff. We get so many requests for test drives we have to do it that way.

My dealer had the boycott list when I bought mine. When I tried arguing about their doc fees (which were 3 times what Sub. charged me only 8 months ago, they pulled out the list and told me "see, we are not on here, look at the great deal you are getting". I have never before and will never again pay sticker.

I agree with Coolguy totally. Not all of us can walk into a dealership, throw down cash and pay over MSRP. The boycott gives all of us the opportunity to buy one at a more affordable price. It's called smart buying and as I said I work hard for my money and you can bet I am going to try to keep ever dollar in my pocket. I don't live paycheck to paycheck and always try to live(lifestyle) just below where I could just incase I lose my job. If you want to pay over MSRP be my quest. Yes you will have the car before me but there are plenty more on the lot!

Coolguy949, what's up man. I look forward to reading some of those letters from the dealers who can't seem to sell there EVO's for the outrageous markups they are charging. It continues to boggle my mind how car salesman are offended and scratching there heads when people won't shell out their hard earned cash on a sub 28K invoice vehicle. Coolguy, U da man bro Do yourself a favor: Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
