That would be nice! But in all honestly what happened at the Toyota dealership i worked at when a car needed a new motor they usually just get a motor from a motor importer/salvager (they imported motors, but also kept USDM motors in stock as well) and put it in. Its normally a very low mileage COMPRESSION CHECKED motor. Since the Evos are so new they may just put the IX block in. Did they say what they were doing as far as replacing the motor or just replacing the rings, etc?

Did you buy the car "as is?" is the warranty transferable? how many previous owners? read the fine print, you might have gotten hosed. Hope not though.

ill find out tomorrow what they are going to do. they told me i had the remainder of the factory powertrain warranty

well if you have the remainder of the warranty, then there is no reason that they shouldn't fix it. now you've even got my hopes up. good luck

Thats really good to hear. Im glad they didnt try to just put the motor in or rebuild and charge you for it. Heard some horror stories about that...
