1) Were you wearing your seatbelt
2) Was your steering wheel turned (not between 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock)
3) Can you confirm your SRS system had not been tampered with

2)I dont remember off hand, but if i had to guess, i would say that yes, the steering wheel was turned beyond 11 and 1. I had attempted to catch the slide.
3)I cannot confirm anything about the SRS system, i can confirm that the light on the instrument cluster worked as it should. A carfax may reveal more, however.

sorry to hear about your accident.. i definitely agree with you that your airbag should've gone off, but damn mitsubishi. this other guy who got hit in the rear passenger side of the car had his airbag deploy so wth!? i hope this is not a common problem, maybe with just '03s? your car looks totaled by the looks of it, but i hope insurance can take care of you.

Wow, I'm so sorry about your car. But hey, a car's only a car even if it's an EVO. Your life is way more important, and you must feel grateful if anything to be able to walk out of that fine, esp. with the air bags not deploying. In any other normal car, the aibags would def deploy in a crash like that.

Problem solved (many do not know this). Your airbag is designed NOT TO deploy if you have exceeded a certain steering input dial-in threshold to prevent you from breaking your arm, your nose and/or your face.
Hold your hands up as if you were holding a steering wheel at 10&2 or 9&3 (for those of you that learned proper driving technique with an airbag) and dial the wheel to 9 or 3 o'clock,;you'll notice one of your hands is placed in front of your face. Thus, if your airbag deploys, you become your own worst enemy.
Despite many saying it should have gone off, some engineer out there is responsible for designing your safety system and knows that statistically it is true that most accidents that include injury in 1st&2nd generation airbag equipped cars include injuries precipitated by oneself.

I feel for you man, I know how much that sucks. I wrecked my GTI about a month ago and its a horrible feeling. especially having to look at pictures of the car in that kind of condition. But all that matters is that you're ok. good luck

Looks like you had the car lowered/suspension altered. Did you go over a small baump near when you tried tighten your turn? It can really throw the back end out without you expecting it. Glad you are ok.
