Evo8 engine swap into Evo5

Hey guys i am currently the owner of a 1998 evo5 and i am curious about swapping out my evo5 engine for an evo8....My questions are has this ever been done by anyone known to you guys i know that the engines are similar but is there anything i should know before i attempt......Also i want to know if there are any websites which can probably build me a full engine for a set price....your feedback is deeply wanted.

why?i thought the evo5 has the same motor not as built.if you want to swap engine find a evo9 motor just because of the mivec.

Thanks alot man....I bought the car from someone who should never ever own another evo. i was told the block was cracked once and replaced. And now since i got this car which has only been a few days i got my mechanice to take a look at the car and he says that my radiator needs to be replaced and also that the noise which im hearing is the number 4 piston slapping around :O not sure if i want to fix it and what the price would be like. i am just afraid if i fix it another piston or something will go wrong shortly.

It's more than just swapping an engine. I'd be surprised if you didn't have to do an ECU swap, wiring harness, etc. Good luck though.

4g63 is in fact a 4g63 but when you look at the versions from past time, the motor has changed from year to year(there are a few exceptions) yet the same 4g63t engine code is the same...ex...1gen 4g63 six bolt and 2gen 4g63 7 bolt...
this difference could be found with the evo 5 and evo 8 motors as well...but here in the u.s. we dont have evo 5 or yet an evo 7 and we know evo 8 motors are different from the 9's...so i say find out the specs in the 5's 4g63 and maybe the 7's or 8's...the only thing i could think of is the water passages and oil passages...imo
